365 Days, Day 189

The play is done; the curtain drops, Slow falling to the prompter's bell, A moment yet the actor stops, And looks around to say farewell. It is an irksome word and task: And when he's laughed and said his say, He shows, as he removes the mask, A face that's anything but gay (William Makepeace Thackeray)

People who live in glass houses have to answer the bell (Bruce Patterson)

Everything is not what it seems…

I wrote that for “yesterday’s” blog. It applies to today’s quotes too, it seems. The masks we wear. A concept I have researched for my art studies…

But that was not meant to be my theme for today. Today’s theme is bells. I used to have loads of bells, but when I came to photograph ‘bells’ today, realised that I did not bring them with me.

The sound of bells can bring our attention to focus on something. A dinner gong or bell can call us to a meal (hmmm good idea). Church bells call us to worship. Or at least they did when I was young. I don’t think I have heard church bells for years. Tibetan prayer bells can be used to bring your focus to meditation. The vibration of the bell is said to purify negative energy, be spiritually cleansing, return harmony and balance and increase the positive energy. I like this idea. I know it sounds weird, but I rather like the idea of using a bell to start a ritual.

I will have to think about how I can incorporate bells into my day…
