365 Days, Day 30

You can't depend on your eyes when your imagination is out of focus. (Mark Twain)

I find hope in the darkest of days, and focus in the brightest. I do not judge the universe. (Dalai Lama)

I planned to paint today, but only got as far as drawing and shading a torso on one of my paintings-in-progress. I seem to be lacking in focus. I get loads of things done … eventually. Life things. Everyday things. Even washed the car today.

Which was a lesson in how-to-meet-your-neighbours. Louis from next door came past when he came home from school and said he hadn’t come for extra lessons yesterday because he’d had to go to the doctor’s and it seems he (Louis, not the doctor) has skin cancer…

The lady over the road came out to walk her dog and I said hello, are you doing alright? And she told me that she was feeling a lot better, and then told me what had been wrong… It’s the first time I’ve spoken to her. Bless. My focus was taken from the car cleaning and Ariel had to finish it off by herself while I was chatting.

Today’s daily reading from Opening Doors Within by Aileen Caddy (co-founder of Findhorn Foundation) reads:

To get into the rhythm with life you have to learn the art of being still, the more still you become, the more clearly can you reflect the qualities of your soul…. When you seek and find that inner peace and stillness, nothing and no one without will be able to disturb it or throw you off balance. Look around you; look at the beauty and perfection of nature. Everything in nature is in rhythm… Nothing is out of tune; there is a time and reason for everything. Flow with it and be part of that law and order in [the] universe.

Hence my blurry photo of nature today:

Look to nature for inspiration

Get into the rhythm and flow of life

FOCUS.

  1. I have been thinking that i have nothing to focus on - no play to learn or rehears, no job to get up and get out for, no man to give my attentions and love to. Its just me and my children !!!! Reading your blog gives me new focus - be it spirals, or being still and letting your mind wander or looking at nature - you are an inspiration and i love this blog. If you put all your pics and thoughts into a book - i would be first in line to buy it. xxx
